About MJS Electrical Products & Supplies

MJS Electrical Products & Supplies is a family-owned Australian electrical wholesaler built around one idea: less friction for customers and staff. Founded in 2010, the business draws on more than 30 years of family experience in electrical wholesale, and started selling on eBay while its own website was still nearly two years from launch. Today it serves electricians and retail shoppers through a busy trade counter, eCommerce site, marketplaces, and a mobile app.

That activity adds up to more than 7,000 active SKUs, 50–100 trade counter customers every day, up to 400 orders shipped by midday, more than 5,000 five-star Google reviews, and 30% year-on-year growth. Behind that is a connected commerce strategy powered by Maropost, with Neto by Maropost at the core and TouchCart extending the experience to mobile.

"This has been our best year ever. We're up around 30% year-on-year, our order volumes have doubled over the last 12 months, and TouchCart has become one of our strongest sales channels."

One unified commerce platform for trade and retail

Challenge

MJS built its first website on OpenCart, which worked well in the early years. As the business grew, inventory, accounting, eCommerce, and marketplaces each ran through their own separate connector. MJS had more than 1,000 products on its website but could only keep 50–100 listings on eBay because every update was manual.

"We'd outgrown OpenCart. We had separate connectors for everything: one for Xero, another for the website, another for eBay, and it became a nightmare to manage," says Seguna.

Solution

Around 2016, MJS moved to Neto by Maropost as its unified commerce platform: one login, one catalog, and one real-time stock count across eCommerce, trade counter, marketplaces, and mobile. A standalone online store builder, the kind most eCommerce platforms are still built around, couldn't cover that ground, so Neto also runs as the B2B commerce platform for trade accounts and the online store builder behind the retail site, replacing the separate tools MJS had outgrown.

TouchCart, a Maropost partner app, extends that same ecosystem to mobile without a custom build, saving the roughly $250,000 it would have cost to develop and maintain one. Customers get one login across web and app, with orders, invoices, pricing, and account history staying in sync, and the app reached more than 1,500 active users and became the third-largest sales channel in little more than a year.

Result

  • Single platform for products, customers, orders, inventory, and marketplaces
  • Full catalog publishable to eBay in clicks, not manual listing updates
  • TouchCart live as a connected mobile channel with push notifications for loyal customers

Real-time inventory management across every channel

Challenge

As the product range grew, stock accuracy across channels became non-negotiable. MJS couldn't afford oversells or stale counts when the same SKUs sold in-store, online, on marketplaces, and through the app.

Solution

Neto's inventory management software gives MJS real-time stock control across every channel. As the catalog grew from around 1,000 products to more than 7,000 active SKUs, the team kept one source of truth for what was actually in stock.

Result

  • 7,000+ active SKUs managed from one system
  • Stock synced across web, POS, marketplaces, and TouchCart
  • Overselling risk reduced as channels share live inventory

Faster, connected checkout with Neto POS software

Challenge

The trade counter got busier every year. Manual checkout and disconnected stock checks slowed service when speed at the counter mattered as much as online conversion.

Solution

Neto's POS software gives staff barcode scanning, receipt printing, and live inventory numbers at checkout. What used to be slow and manual is much faster at the counter.

That POS integration keeps everything in sync. Sell something in-store, and the stock count updates almost instantly online and in the app too.

Result

  • Four connected Neto POS terminals serving in-store traffic
  • Faster trade counter service with barcode scanning at checkout
  • In-store sales reflected across digital channels in near real time

Serving trade accounts and retail customers from one system

Challenge

Roughly 60% of revenue comes from trade customers and 40% from retail shoppers. Each group expects something different: negotiated pricing, accounts, and invoice history for electricians; straightforward eCommerce and reliable fulfillment for retail buyers. Separate systems would have doubled the work.

Solution

Neto's retail management solutions run B2B trade accounts and everyday retail from one platform. Electricians log in to view invoices, pay their account, see their pricing, and reorder easily, alongside the standard retail checkout. The same account works on the website and in the TouchCart app.

Result

  • 60/40 trade and retail mix managed without duplicate systems
  • Trade customers self-serve accounts, invoices, and reorders online
  • One customer record across web, app, and in-store

Selling on eBay, Kogan, and Woolworths through one order management system

Challenge

More channels meant more orders to manage, not only more places to list. MJS needed to sell on eBay, Kogan, and Woolworths MarketPlus without losing control of its catalog or orders.

Solution

Neto's order management software runs every marketplace from one system: the website, eBay, Kogan, and Woolworths MarketPlus (Everyday Market and Big W Market). It's the same omnichannel experience everywhere: one account, one password, whether a customer buys online, in-store, or through the app.

Result

  • Every sales channel managed from one backend
  • Website, eBay, Kogan, and Woolworths MarketPlus connected to the same catalog
  • One customer account across the website, store, and app

Scaling warehouse fulfillment without adding headcount

Challenge

Accurate stock, faster checkout, two customer types, and more sales channels all created the same next challenge: more orders for the warehouse to process. Before the operation scaled, the team shipped about 150–200 orders by midday.

Solution

With inventory, POS, trade accounts, and marketplace orders connected, Neto's warehouse management system gave the same team the control to process higher volumes without adding headcount.

Result

  • 300–400 orders shipped by midday, up from about 150–200
  • Order volumes doubled over 12 months
  • Warehouse throughput doubled without a proportional headcount increase
  • Around 24-hour dispatch commitment held at higher volume

Looking ahead

MJS is focused on getting more from the channels that already work: expanding range, strengthening supplier relationships, driving repeat purchases through TouchCart, and refining every step from product page to dispatch.

"We just want to keep doing what we're doing, but do it better: better customer experience, better promotions and more loyal customers," says Seguna. A decade after moving to Neto, that's still the focus: less friction for the team, and a faster, easier experience for the customer.
