The Situation

By 2012, Speed Parts recognised the need to evolve from a traditional bricks-and-mortar business into a scalable ecommerce operation. As the company expanded, managing thousands of SKUs manually on eBay quickly became complex and inefficient. The challenges multiplied with the intricacies of automotive fitment data, the need for structured systems, and the rapid growth of Australian marketplaces — making it increasingly difficult to operate using isolated, manual processes.

At the time, Speed Parts was already processing around 2,000 orders per week, and the limitations of their existing systems were becoming increasingly apparent. “It’s a huge catalogue,” says Justin Tettis, Managing Director and Co-founder at Speed Parts. “And when you add the complication of automotive fitment and the specifics, it becomes a big data set to try and work with.”

“We were doing everything manually — spreadsheets, logging into each marketplace, and trying to keep up,” he adds. “We even tried building our own system, but it was too complex and resource intensive.”

After experimenting with a global ecommerce platform that proved too cumbersome and costly, the Speed Parts team sought a solution that could meet their unique needs — without overwhelming their operations.

Approach

Speed Parts turned to Neto by Maropost, a platform purpose-built for Australian retailers with complex inventory and multichannel needs.

“Neto’s ability to handle large SKU volumes and structured automotive data was a game changer,” says Tettis. “It allowed us to streamline operations, scale efficiently, and improve the customer experience.”

Speed Parts operates multiple webstores, including a couple of Neto-built storefronts and a Shopify store, all of which are managed centrally through Neto. This unified back end allows the team to maintain consistency across channels while tailoring the front-end experience for different customer segments.

The platform’s support for customer groups enabled Speed Parts to offer tailored pricing across B2B, retail, and online channels. Integration with marketplaces like eBay, Kogan, Big W, and Woolworths, along with support for multiple web stores, helped unify their operations under one system.

Speed Parts also partnered with ZELLIS and local developers to build custom solutions, including advanced parts-finding tools, marketplace templates, and shipping logic, further enhancing Neto’s capabilities.

Results

Since implementing Neto in 2018, Speed Parts has seen:

  • SKU growth from 50,000 to over 700,000, enabling a much broader product offering
  • Consistent annual revenue growth of 20%+
  • Operational efficiency gains across inventory, listings, and order management
  • A 70/30 split in favour of ecommerce, reflecting the shift in business strategy
  • Ranks among the top ten automotive parts resellers in Australia on eBay.

“Since implementing Neto in 2018, we’ve consistently achieved year-on-year revenue growth of over 20%, which is a significant uplift from where we were before. Our SKU count has grown from around 50,000 to over 700,000 in that time. I can confidently say that the scalability and structure Neto provides has played a major role in enabling that growth.”

“Neto is like oxygen for our business,” says Tettis. “If it were suddenly gone, it would be a disaster. It’s that critical.”

With Neto’s support and a strong partner ecosystem, Speed Parts is now preparing to scale beyond 1 million SKUs and expand its marketplace footprint — including a return to Amazon and a launch on Bunnings Marketplace.

What's Next

Speed Parts is focused on deepening its presence in the Australian market before expanding internationally. With a robust tech stack, a growing product catalogue, and a clear roadmap, the company is well-positioned for continued growth.

“We’re all about growth, growth, growth,” says Tettis, “and Neto is helping us get there.”
